SEASON OF CONTAGIOUS TESTIMONIES.
In Case You Missed It.
The Power Of Sacrifice.
Anchor Scriptures:
2Kings 3:23-27.
2 Samuel 24:24.
Preacher: Asst Pastor Emmanuel Adasi.
What is Sacrifice?
It is an act of giving something precious to gain more precious things.
Sacrifice involves stepping out from the ordinary for the extraordinary.
In the place of sacrifice, something must give way for another.
If the sacrifice is not painful, then it is not gainful.
Heb 11:6
God was the first giver of sacrifice.
Without sacrifice, no success is attainable.
Consider the stories of the following people who made sacrifices :
Pastor E.A Adeboye paid his dues when he closed his bank account to support the work of God. That is sacrifice in action.
The King of Moab in our anchor scriptures sacrificed his eldest son to avoid being defeated by Isreal. God had to respect the blood that was spilled and gave the King his desire.
Abraham obeyed to sacrifice his son upon the instruction of God.
And God sworn to bless him and his generations. And today, Isreal is a nation to reckon with.
David was a man of sacrifice. He danced with his might. And God named him as a man after HIS own heart.
Jesus paid the sacrifice for our eternal salvation. And today we are all beneficiaries of his sacrifice.
Two types of Sacrifice.
(1) Living sacrifice. Rm 12-1
(2) Dead sacrifice
Living sacrifice carries a voice. Abel's sacrifice was a living one. Even after his death, his sacrifice spoke for him.
Gen.4-4 & Heb 11-4
Principles of Sacrifice.
(1) Your sacrifice must not be cheap. If it is not painful, it is not gainful.
Remember, God gave his best for us which is Jesus. And Jesus was not cheap.
Hannah has been going to Shiloh. But the Shiloh where she made a vow of sacrifice was a life-changing one for her.
(2) Every sacrifice that does not come from the heart is not acceptable.
The widow's mite is an example of an acceptable sacrifice.
(3) Acceptable sacrifice must be willing. It must be voluntarily wilful.
3 levels of sacrifice
(1) Time as a sacrifice.
Your sacrifice must be timely. Your tithes, offerings, must be timely.
Eccle 3:1
(2) Service as a sacrifice.
How is your service to God? Give God a reasonable sacrifice. Rom 12-1
(3) Resource as a sacrifice. God needs your resources. Heb 12:4.
Prayer point:
Father, in the year 2018 let my sacrifice speak for me.
See you next week.
